2026 Pets and Housing Awards Nominations Are Now Open!

Pets are an essential part of modern life, and housing providers across the country are stepping up to meet the moment. The Pets and Housing Awards, hosted by Michelson Found Animals Foundation’s Pet-Inclusive Housing Initiative, recognize the properties, companies, and organizations leading the way in creating more pet-inclusive communities.

2026 Pets and Housing Awards Categories

Best Leap Forward

Recognizes a property or company that has made meaningful progress toward greater pet inclusivity in the past year, such as easing restrictions, updating policies, or investing in pet-friendly amenities.

Vanguard Award

Honors a company with a sustained, long-term commitment to pet-inclusive housing. Companies must own or manage at least five properties to be eligible.

Most Impactful Pet & Community Engagement Event or Program

Recognizes a rental housing property or company that meaningfully engages residents and the local community to strengthen the human–pet bond, through adoption or foster initiatives, partnerships, education, or other pet-focused programs.

Most Innovative Pet Amenity or Amenity Group

Celebrates a standout pet amenity—or group of amenities—that enhances resident experience, builds community, or helps attract and retain residents.

Most Innovative Pet Marketing Campaign

Recognizes a creative marketing campaign that positions pets as a core part of a property or company’s strategy to attract, engage, and retain residents.

Most Pet-Inclusive Property

Awarded using the Pet-Inclusive Score. To be considered, properties must complete the Pet-Inclusive Scorecard. Finalists and the winner are determined based on their score.

Pets & Housing Policy Advancement Award

Recognizes leadership in advancing local or national policies that support pet-inclusive housing and help keep pets and their families together.

Paws & Progress Nonprofit Award

Celebrates a nonprofit organization advancing pet-inclusive housing through advocacy, rescue, education, or community-based initiatives.

How to Submit a Nomination

1. Be ready to include a written description about why the organization, property, or individual should win the award category(ies). You may use as many words as you need to make your case.

2. You’ll need to upload a short video, slide deck, photos, or other content to give context to your submission. Providing visuals helps tell your story. If you need help, please check out this helpful guide with nomination submission instructions.
